{"id":8446,"date":"2022-04-02T08:11:13","date_gmt":"2022-04-01T23:11:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/?p=8446"},"modified":"2022-04-02T08:16:03","modified_gmt":"2022-04-01T23:16:03","slug":"neu5gc-serum-biomarkers-could-be-a-promising-new-tool-for-early-detection-of-breast-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/en\/neu5gc-serum-biomarkers-could-be-a-promising-new-tool-for-early-detection-of-breast-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"Neu5Gc serum biomarkers could be a promising new tool for early detection of breast cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group from Institute for Glycomics, Griffith University, Gold Coast campus, Southport, QLD 4222 Australia, etc. has reported that <strong>Neu5Gc serum biomarkers<\/strong> are a promising new tool for early detection and disease monitoring for breast cancer.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC8962556\/\">https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC8962556\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A new lectin is derived from the B-subunit of the Shiga toxigenic Escherichia coli (STEC) Subtilase cytotoxin (SubAB), which recognizes \u03b12\u20133 linked Neu5Gc. This lectin was engineered to to expand the recognition from only \u03b12\u20133-linked Neu5Gc to include both \u03b12\u20133 and \u03b12\u20136 Neu5Gc linkages, and named as <strong>SubB2M<\/strong>. A non-sialic acid binding version named as <strong>SubBA12<\/strong> was also enginnered by replacing Ser12 with Ala12.
