{"id":8006,"date":"2022-02-20T13:17:53","date_gmt":"2022-02-20T04:17:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/?p=8006"},"modified":"2022-02-20T16:57:14","modified_gmt":"2022-02-20T07:57:14","slug":"the-importance-of-glycan-glycan-interactions-in-hiv-infection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/en\/the-importance-of-glycan-glycan-interactions-in-hiv-infection\/","title":{"rendered":"The importance of glycan-glycan interactions in HIV infection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group of Institute for Glycomics, Griffith University, Gold Coast, QLD 4222, Australia has reported the importance of glycan-glycan interactions in HIV infection.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cell.com\/cell-reports\/fulltext\/S2211-1247(22)00002-X?_returnURL=https%3A%2F%2Flinkinghub.elsevier.com%2Fretrieve%2Fpii%2FS221112472200002X%3Fshowall%3Dtrue\">Host glycocalyx captures HIV proximal to the cell surface via<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Current understanding of the roles of HIV glycans include: (1) to protect HIV from immune recognition; (2) to stabilize the trimeric envelope structure; and (3) to mediate trans-infection of T lymphocytes via electrostatic glycan-lectin (host proteinaceous lectin) interactions.<\/p>\n<p>As is well know, all HIV Envelops are heavily glycosylated with variable N-linked glycans distributed across ~30 N-linked glycosylation sites, and many of these sites are primary occupied with oligomannose N-glycans, including Man<sub>5-9<\/sub>GlcNAc<sub>2<\/sub>-Asn and Man<sub>3<\/sub>GlcNAc<sub>2<\/sub>-Asn core structures.<\/p>\n<p>While much is known about HIV entry, the initial interactions between virus and cell prior to HIV envelope-CD4 receptor-dependent interactions is rather unclear.<\/p>\n<p>In this report, it was shown that glycan-glycan interactions could initiate HIV-cell contacts, that is, HIV- and host cell-glycan interactions via HIV oligomannose, Man5 (Man\u03b11-3Man\u03b11-6[Man\u03b11-3]Man; a representative terminal HIV N-glycan structure, and host cell GlcNAc could potentiate HIV-host cell attachment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/HIV_glycan-glycan-interactions.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/HIV_glycan-glycan-interactions-300x247.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"247\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-8013\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/HIV_glycan-glycan-interactions-300x247.png 300w, https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/HIV_glycan-glycan-interactions.png 456w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, it can be said that glycan-glycan interactions are emerging as a new class of high-affinity biomolecular interactions in virus infection.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A group of Institute for Glycomics, Griffith University, Gold Coast, QLD 4222, Australia has reported the impo<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"blog-btn\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/en\/the-importance-of-glycan-glycan-interactions-in-hiv-infection\/\" class=\"home-blog-btn\">\u7d9a\u304d\u3092\u8aad\u3080<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[70],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-8006","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-nature-en"],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8006","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=8006"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8006\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":8016,"href":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8006\/revisions\/8016"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8006"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=8006"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=8006"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
