{"id":2876,"date":"2021-03-13T08:11:59","date_gmt":"2021-03-12T23:11:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/?p=2870"},"modified":"2021-03-13T09:24:13","modified_gmt":"2021-03-13T00:24:13","slug":"the-difference-in-biomarkers-between-icu-patients-with-covid-19-related-ards-and-classical-ards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/en\/the-difference-in-biomarkers-between-icu-patients-with-covid-19-related-ards-and-classical-ards\/","title":{"rendered":"The difference in Biomarkers between ICU patients with COVID-19-related ARDS and classical ARDS: Vascular Endothelial cells are heavily damaged"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group from University of Ferrara, etc. has reported on the difference in biomarkers between ICU patients with COVID-19-related ARDS and classical ARDS.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/ccforum.biomedcentral.com\/articles\/10.1186\/s13054-021-03499-4\">https:\/\/ccforum.biomedcentral.com\/articles\/10.1186\/s13054-021-03499-4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Evaluated marker were as follow, Receptor for Advanced Glycation End Products (RAGE), Angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2)\u3001soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), E-Selectin, and P-Selectin.<\/p>\n<p>Ang-2 is a growth factor (glycoprotein) promoting vascularization,<br \/>\nICAM-1 is a member of immunoglobulin superfamily and a ligand for activated leukocytes,<br \/>\nVCAM-1 functions as a cell adhesion molecule like ICAM-1, but is usually not expressed on endothelial cells, and needs IL-1, TNF-\u03b1 stimulations,<br \/>\nE-Selectin is a leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion molecule expressed on vascular endothelial cells,<br \/>\nP-Selectin is a leukocyte adhesion molecule, and expressed in platelets and vascular endothelial cells.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/biomarkers_COVID-19_ICU-patients.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2874\" src=\"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/biomarkers_COVID-19_ICU-patients-300x149.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"149\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/biomarkers_COVID-19_ICU-patients-300x149.png 300w, https:\/\/www.emukk.com\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/biomarkers_COVID-19_ICU-patients.png 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>RAGE has almost no relationship with COVDI-19 suggesting that the ARDS is caused by virus infection.
